As a freelance artist and a blogger, I gain inspiration and entertainment, like many others, from fellow artists. Although I’m obsessed with Pinterest, I get a lot of my inspiration by seeing real time updates from other letterers and graphic designers on Instagram. Even those Instagrammers who are in the same business I am, aka custom paper goods and calligraphy, are so fun for me to follow because it pushes me to do more and to be a better artist. I figured I would put together a little list of my favorite Instagrams in case you’re looking for more inspiration!
INVITATIONS & PAPER GOODS
Lauren Saylor (A Fabulous Fete) is my absolute favorite Instagram out there right now. Her work is incredible, every color palette she uses is my style, and her business is at a level of success and aesthetically pleasing art that I want to achieve someday. She posts a lot of aesthetic compositions and her work with brush lettering.
…………
Lindsey Swink (Bare Ink Co) is an incredible artist with a natural style and skill with brush lettering. The invitation suites she creates are exquisite and we get the extra treat of her fashion and style posts.
…………
Pink Champagne Paper is more than just one person, which makes their content varied and more interesting than the average Instagram. I followed them because of their beautiful and modern invitation suites. There are so many suites with different style that it’s a great resource for any invitation design inspiration.
…………
Serena Martin is a recent find, but I found right away that she is an incredible artist and illustrator. Although she does more than just wedding invitations and signage, her wedding items are really special and unique. Because of her unique style, her illustrations bring a new dimension to her paper goods.
…………
Alison Hazinski (One and Only Paper) does really beautiful work with watercolor illustration. She brings her unique style to all of the invitations she creates, as well as the small projects she showcases on her Instagram.
LETTERING & CALLIGRAPHY
Paige Thammavong (Hey Halle) is incredibly unique, because she specializes mostly in calligraphy on signs and large scale wall projects. Her work is really awe-inspiring for me, because her work is so perfect, even with the large scale work she completes. Every time I see her post, I get excited to see what she’s up to now.
…………
Jess (Jeshy Park) is a fabulous calligrapher and artist who creates incredibly detailed pieces of art with watercolor and traditional calligraphy methods. The watercolor images she paints are small and adorable, and filled with so much talent it’s definitely inspiring for me.
…………
Taryn Nichols (Taryn’s Doodles) has a very unique calligraphy style that I find really beautiful. Not only does she have a form of humor in a lot of the pieces she makes, but the medium she chooses for calligraphy varies day-to-day. Her Instagram is a great example of an everyday calligrapher with a lot of talent, so her posts are always interesting to look at.
…………
Sarah Gan (Sarah Kopic) is a artist with the most beautiful, elegant calligraphy style that I’ve seen on Instagram. Her work is simple, but modern and interesting. The posts I especially enjoy are the variety of watercolor wreaths, combined with her calligraphy.
…………
Peggy Dean (The Pigeon Letters) is one of the most popular calligraphers out there – in my opinion. With multiple popular calligraphy and line drawing books out there, her Instagram is equal parts instructional and inspirational. Her style is unique and beautiful, and she has gotten to the point where she has developed her skills and is now helping other calligraphers learn too.
